What an emotional rollercoaster.

From the first page to the last it kept me engaged. Both Damian and Marinn, to go through what they both did and come out of the other side, well, it truly shows their strength. The way Adore managed to touch on these topics was really something special. Damian is a strong, fun loving guy that has a dirty mouth in the bedroom. Marinn, is like a scared little bird that likes a little kink until she realises she doesn't have to do it alone. She becomes a strong fighter that still likes it kinky with a little loving thrown in too.

I really enjoyed this first book from Adore Ian. It hooked my right from the beginning and kept me reading. It has a lot of ups and downs. It was a great roller coaster ride. I like the way the author dealt with some sensitive subjects. Damian and Marinn both had some baggage that they worked through. I am looking forward to the next book in the Braxton Arcade Book.

There were certain aspects that were handled really well. He’s rich and doesn’t need to work, so he volunteers teaching self defense to women and making sure they know they’re not at fault if they were the victim of an attack. Also, a lot of the after effects of abuse are really well done. But other than that, I couldn’t connect with the characters.

Adore Ian grew up in a mixed race family in Hawaii and has loved steamy romance novels ever since finding a Harper paperback discarded on the sidewalk when she was a kid. She's a proud dyslexic, a loud intersectional feminist, and a lover of standard poodles. She lives with her manfriend on the east coast where she spends too much time bunny watching and not enough time writing. She believes the ingredients to good romance are too much smut, quality fluff and angst, and a dash of guerrilla sex ed. Her novels are best enjoyed with a slice of pizza and an ice cold beer.
