Review: Broken Hill High by Sheridan Anne

Series: Broken Hill High Series

Genre: Teen & Young Adult

Publication Date: February 5, 2019

"Go live with Nate Ryder," they said.

"Everything will be fine," they said.

Are they nuts?

Nate Ryder has been the bane of my existence for the past five years. He’s made it his personal mission to make my life a living hell and now my parents expect me to go and live with the guy for the foreseeable future.

No thanks. I’d rather gouge out my eyes with a toothpick than live with him and his little brother, Jesse. Only problem is, they have my parents wrapped around their little fingers, thinking they’re the good little boys they pretend to be.

But I know better, and so does the rest of Broken Hill High.

Nate Ryder is not to be messed with. He’s a bad boy through and through. A bully. A guy who doesn’t care who he has to step on to get what he wants. He’s the devil and he knows it.

Now that devil is my roommate.

I better hold on tight because this is going to be one bumpy ride. One where I can guarantee that I won’t come out the same.

Dive in to the world of Broken Hill High and meet your new favorite bad boy.

This is one wild read you don’t want to miss.

This book reminds me of one of my favourite books Fallen Crest High and I loved this book just as much!

Nate and Tora grew up together with their mums as close friends. They were inseparable but at the age of 12 things changed and Nate pulled away. At school he would bully her and put her down publicly making it known to everyone that he didn't like her.

Tora's grandma falls ill and her parents go to Australia to care for her leaving Tora home alone. As soon as Nate finds out she's not taking care of herself properly he insists she stay with his family - insist is putting it lightly, he threatens her.

Once they start spending time together like they once did begins to see the side of him she once knew when they were younger. The one that cares for her, makes sure she's fed, teaches her to drive and makes sure that no one bothers her.

Nate is a bully straight up but he shows signs of being kind, compassionate and caring, especially when it comes to Tora. Tora is sweet, feisty and takes no sh*t from anyone, Nate included.

The reason Nate used to bully her is uncovered in the first book and while I may not think it's valid I can appreciate how he's trying to make it up to her. Not through words but with actions. He apologises and continues to show her through this everyday actions that he regrets the way he treated her.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves reading high school romances or tormentor turned lover romances.

I enjoyed this book Had a little giggle here and there I did like the story line And the characters were likeable I will definitely be going on to read the rest of the series.

Terri's Review - Rating ★★★★

Tora and Nate what can I say about these two, other than that these two definitely had off the charts chemistry. Yes when things first started they could be seen as enemies. Nate is the bad boy of the school. While Tora really wasn't a member of any of the groups in the school. But, that didn't mean she wasn't on the radar of some.

Now when I said these two had off the charts chemistry I will say that that was only just the beginning for them. They both wanted each other, but didn't quite know how. Nate was there for Tora when she needed someone to have her back, and to help her when her life was secretly destructing itself.

I read this one in one sitting and quickly downloaded the second book. I need to know what else is in store for this couple and those that are parts of their group.
