REVIEW: Havoc by Debra Anastasia

REVIEW: Havoc by Debra Anastasia

Thrilling read about devotion and loyalty. Havoc for me is a little bit of a slow burn romance. Animal and T have known each other since they were younger, both of them have been dealt a crap hand but have a bond and a friendship like no other. They silently watch each other's backs and seemingly have this almost unspoken telepathy, knowing when each other needs help. It was quite endearing to read. T well I absolutely loved her, she was quiet, fearless and at selflessly devoted to those she loves. That list of people is almost non existent but once you are loved by her you are protected. Her strength was commendable and man she was a badass. Animal he definitely comes off as those men that your mother warns you to stay away from but underneath his toughness he too, is loyal to those that he loves. This story starts off in the past and we see these two as the beginning of their friendship as time goes on they separate. It when they reconnect that things start to get interesting, there's some angst that literally had my heart hurting for them. And a point where I just wasn't sure what kind of outcome we would have. Suspenseful, with a bit of dark with a twist that has you on the edge of your seat. Havoc was a great read. I am definitely looking forward to the next book.

I absolutely love this book. I found the characters to be well-rounded and fit together perfectly. I enjoyed seeing old characters and getting to know more about them. I love getting to know Animal on a deeper level. The plot was exciting and new. I love how well everything flowed. There was a little bit of everything in the plot. There was humor and sexiness along with sweet and tear jerking. At times I wanted to reach through my phone and punch Debra for shit but lucky for her I’m lazy and you can’t actually reach through a phone. It was definitely a 5 star read for me. Everything from the sexy ass cover to the amazing writing. Can’t wait to sit it on my shelf and recommend it to everyone that will listen!

I named myself. I took the word Animal out of their mouths, wore it like a badge of honor then shoved it down their throats. I’ve fought for what I have. I see you coming, before you even know you want a piece of me. In a city riddled with warring families, I’ll rise up between them. My people, the broken souls I gather will have power by the time I’m done with them. I protect mine. Him. My brother, Nix. Her. The girl that is the only home I’ve ever had. She knows me. I’m coming at you, Sweetness. Stay ready.

There are a lot of eyes in Debra Anastasia's house in Maryland. First, her own creepy peepers are there, staring at her computer screen. She's made two more sets of eyes with her body, and the kids they belong to are amazing. The poor husband is still looking at her after 17 years of marriage. At least he likes to laugh. Then the freaking dogs are looking at her—six eyeballs altogether, though the old dog is blind. And the cat watches her too, mostly while knocking stuff off the counter and doing that internal kitty laugh when Deb can't catch the items fast enough.

In between taking care of everything those eyes involve, Debra creates pretend people in her head and paints them on the giant, beautiful canvas of your imagination. What an amazing job that is. The stories hit her hard while driving the minivan or shaving her legs, especially when there's no paper and pen around. Within all of the lies she writes hides her heart, so thank you for letting it play in your mind.

Debra has written a smattering of books in a few genres. There are two paranormal romances in the Seraphim Series and now four contemporary romances in the Poughkeepsie Brotherhood Series, Fire Down Below and Fire in the Hole, complete the Gynazule Comedy Series. The Revenger, a dark paranormal romance, is finally in the light, and the last, a novella called Late Night with Andres, is special because 100% of the proceeds go to breast cancer research. (So go get it right now, please!)
