Review: Trust the Wolf by Zoe Ashwood

Series: Shift

Author: Zoe Ashwood

Publication Date: January 24th, 2019

You never forget your first wolf.

Emilia’s first encounter with Jason is memorable: it’s not every day you see a stranger change into a wolf. Her attraction to him is undeniable, but the secret he shares shakes the foundations of her life.

Jason’s need for Emilia unnerves him. It’s his job to report shifters without proper ID, yet he can’t make himself do it this time. The decision bites him in the tail when he discovers exactly who she is. He must keep his distance—or there will be hell to pay.

Their fates entwine when rogue shifters learn of Emilia’s identity and will stop at nothing to get to her. Emilia and Jason will have to fight together or risk losing everything.

But most of all? Emilia must learn to trust the wolf.

A stunning cover to with a brilliantly written story.

A shifter book with a difference. I loved that it has its own spun. Mixing things up from what I would deem a typical type. Looking forward to more from this series for sure.

A promising read.

I have mixed emotions about this book. There are moments where I am entranced with the story line, but there were also moments when I had to push myself to read it because it fell flat. I love this genre and the overall plot is good, I just think that the H/H characters got on my nerves with the constant push and pull between them. It just felt like their relationship was more a teenage angst. I really wanted to like them, but I just never felt a connection to either of them. This book has great promise, just maybe needs more character development.

Emilia thinks she's just a regular human but after a chance encounter with a wolf she realises she is anything but. Jason discovers Emilia has no ID and knowing he should report her he doesn't and they bond. Quickly, after meeting they discover that Emilia is child to a powerful family and Jason fights to keep it professional as her guardian. I really enjoyed this book because it was fun, hot and sexy. There's so much tension when Jason holds himself back and this builds up but is so worth it! What was really enjoyable was the fact that although there was push and pull there wasn't an excessive amount which can sometimes be frustrating resulting in not liking the characters. This was not the case and there was the perfect equilibrium between push and pull. I recommend this for anyone looking for a paranormal romance with some seriously hot scenes.

Zoe Ashwood is a romance writer with a passion for suspenseful stories with a sexy twist.

While she's always been a reader, Zoe's writing used to be limited to diary scribbles and bad (really bad) teenage poetry. Then she participated in NaNoWriMo 2015 and never looked back.

Some 300,000 words later, she's still in love with the art of making up stories - and making her characters fall in love. Her debut novel, Trust the Wolf, is coming on January 24, 2019.

When she's not writing, Zoe works as a literary translator. She's happily married to her best friend and has two small boys who are as stubborn as they're cute.

She's always super happy to hear from fellow bookworms, so don't hesitate to get in touch! Her newsletter is an especially great way to stay up-to-date with all the latest news (and get a free book).

She reads across genres, but some of her favorite authors include Molly Harper, Lauren Layne, Sarina Bowen, Elle Kennedy, Maggie Stiefvater, Victoria Schwab, Roald Dahl, Rainbow Rowell, J. R. R. Tolkien, Scott Lynch, Jill Shalvis, Juliet Marillier, and Patrick Rothfuss.
