The emotions touches on in this story were so expertly done. Carly, otherwise known as Sunshine, certainly fits that nickname. This is the first book of Jillian Liota's that I've read and I must now go back and read the others. Carly may not have had the easiest of life and she may or may not have her sh*t together (depends on who you ask), but she makes a choice to be happy, to see the good and to lift others up. She's not ashamed to admit she goes to therapy to work through her issues and she is just so quirky. I loved her character so much, I want to be friends with her! Fin is another character I really enjoyed. It's so refreshing to read a story with a strong male who is not afraid to seriously work through his issues and talk them out. Granted, it takes him a while to get there, but he does. This was just such a great book!! Just read it!!! ABOUT THE AUTHOR Jillian has been writing since she was old enough to hold a crayon. I don’t really know how to phrase it correctly. He shouldn’t have done that. They both should’ve talked. They should have done a lot of things that are constantly over looked in a romance. Nate and Tora grew up together with their mums as close friends. They were inseparable but at the age of 12 things changed and Nate pulled away. At school he would bully her and put her down publicly making it known to everyone that he didn't like her. Tora's grandma falls ill and her parents go to Australia to care for her leaving Tora home alone. As soon as Nate finds out she's not taking care of herself properly he insists she stay with his family - insist is putting it lightly, he threatens her. Once they start spending time together like they once did begins to see the side of him she once knew when they were younger. The one that cares for her, makes sure she's fed, teaches her to drive and makes sure that no one bothers her. Nate is a bully straight up but he shows signs of being kind, compassionate and caring, especially when it comes to Tora. Tora is sweet, feisty and takes no sh*t from anyone, Nate included. The reason Nate used to bully her is uncovered in the first book and while I may not think it's valid I can appreciate how he's trying to make it up to her. Not through words but with actions. He apologises and continues to show her through this everyday actions that he regrets the way he treated her. I recommend this book to anyone who loves reading high school romances or tormentor turned lover romances. But, that didn't mean she wasn't on the radar of some. Now when I said these two had off the charts chemistry I will say that that was only just the beginning for them. They both wanted each other, but didn't quite know how. Nate was there for Tora when she needed someone to have her back, and to help her when her life was secretly destructing itself. That's all it took for me. I mean just look at that cover, doesn't it call to you???? Denver Perry is a newish author to me, I've read one of her books before and I was excited to read this one. A new series with some serious promise. Gypsy King is quite different from what I've read recently which is refreshing. Romance with some suspense and mystery. The heroine Bryce, is ambitious and determined. She's got some spunk and that strong will that I love in female leads. She goes toe to toe at times with Dash and I fist pumped and high fived her internally for not giving in. Dash was the perfect MC Hero to me, a bit of mystery surrounding him with just enough arrogance to make him seriously book boyfriend worthy. I particularly loved the surrounding storyline of murder and mystery. Devney throws some truth bombs along the way that kept me absorbed in what I was reading. She also sets up what I am hoping is book two quite nicely. The only thing that bothered me with this book and left me scratching my head a bit was that there were questions left unanswered. Once I finished the book I'll be honest when I say I sat there for a bit thinking, did I miss something?? I'm hoping these questions get answered as the series continues as I feel it was a pretty big component to this book. I don't know what it is about those hate/love romances that get my adrenaline going but boy do they ever. Now if you've read Monica's previous books, the Pierced Hearts duet then you already know a bit about Harley and Jackson. If you haven't then you'll love reading about these two as they grow up together, but I will say go and read The Pierced Hearts Duet cause its amazing. Ok back to this one, the rivalry in this book is on a whole other level. And Monica takes us through all of it from their very beginning. I chuckled at times thinking of these two going at each other. Harley growing up is amazing, the fact that she is Creed's daughter just adds to why I loved her so much. She's feisty, stubborn, determined and outspoken and it's bad ass. Jackson well I gotta say at times all I could think was, what a little shit. But man my heart went out to him in this book. I wanted to just hold him at times and then smack him other times. Once again Monica as she does so well, brings the inevitable heartbreak. And I found myself getting so very choked up with certain events in this book. It wouldn't be an M Robinson book without those moments.
