  • REVIEW + EXCERPT: Wrong Side of the Tracks by Jessica Prince

Title: Wrong Side of the Tracks Series: Hope Valley Author: Jessica Prince Genre: Contemporary Romance Release Date: July 6, 2019 Gypsy Bradbury was never destined for great things. Or at least that’s what she’d convinced herself of. Growing up on the wrong side of the tracks, she had learned that hoping for more was a waste of time. Then Marco forced his way into her life and gave her a glimpse of a future brighter than any she could have imagined. But if her past taught her anything, it was that if something seemed too good to be true… it probably was. The promise of a quiet, simple life was what drew Marco Castillo to Hope Valley. After experiencing war and death first hand, he was looking for something easy. Then he met a woman with guarded eyes and the most beautiful smile he’d ever seen. The only problem was she came with more baggage than a 747. There is nothing easy about Gypsy, but Marco knows without a doubt that the promise of her is well worth the effort. She’s the strongest, bravest woman he’s ever met, and when the life she’s fought to build for her and her family is threatened, Marco is determined to win that battle for her. Whether Gypsy wants his help or not. **Hope Valley is a series of interconnected, standalone romances.** Amazon 🇺🇸 ➔ https://amzn.to/2Xyq7os Amazon 🇨🇦 ➔ https://amzn.to/2Xurd4x Amazon 🇬🇧 ➔ https://amzn.to/2Jt4lIH Amazon 🇦🇺 ➔ https://amzn.to/2XQnfm2 If there is anyone that can get me out of a book funk, it's Jessica Prince. When the Wrong Side of the Tracks hit my kindle I did a happy dance and thanked the Book Gods because I knew I would have no problem reading this book. Jessica is a go to for me, and I always manage to eat her stories up. This book though, this one I devoured and I fell in love with the storyline, the characters and more specifically the hero. Books that feature Alpha's are my jam and make no mistake Marco Castillo is an Alpha male and it's hot as hell. He's determined and he's protective and he's going to show Gypsy that's she's deserving and oh my gawd I've died and gone to book boyfriend heaven. And the heroine is strong and so deserving of all the love, she's one of those women that you can't help but want to cheer for. She's also got a set of balls on her that is admirable. So many moments in this book where I swooned, I got hot and bothered and some where my heart ached for these characters. I got invested in all of them, their struggles, their triumphs, and hoped they would get the HEA that they so clearly deserved. Absolutely loved this story and once again Jessica saves the day for me. I'll keep repeating myself until I'm blue in the face, Jessica Prince is an author YOU NEED TO READ. “Get dressed, babe,” he ordered, tossing my bra and panties to me before slipping back into his boxer briefs. I sat up, holding the sheet to me as I looked at him in confusion. “What? Why? I figured we’d take a little nap, then kick off round two. Neither of those things requires getting dressed.” His cocky smirk set off the butterflies in my belly as he pulled on his jeans. “As much as I’d love a round two right now, it’ll have to wait. I’m taking you to the diner for lunch.” I froze in the middle of re-hooking my bra and looked up at him in panic. Reading my expression loud and clear, Marco moved back to the bed. The mattress dipped under his weight as he bent toward me and gave me a chaste kiss. “If it helps, don’t think of it as a date. Think of it as a meal shared by two people who really enjoy having sex with each other.” I tipped my head to the side incredulously. “You’re saying we’re friends with benefits?” He seemed to give that some thought as he tugged his T-shirt over his head. “No, not friends with benefits. I’d say we’re way more than friends, wouldn’t you?” “Well, yeah. But what does that make us?” “Don’t worry about labeling it,” he responded, lifting the weight that had been resting on my shoulders. “For now, let’s just enjoy each other and do what feels natural, yeah?” “Yeah.” My lips slowly spread into a smile. “Okay. I can do that.” “Good, girasol.” With that, he stood tall, grabbing my wrist and hauling me from the bed. “And what feels natural right now is getting some food in my gut before it eats clear through to my backbone. You want a round two, I need to refuel, so move that sexy ass of yours.” Shooting him a playful glare as I went about getting dressed, I warned, “You want a round two ever, you should probably stop being so damn bossy.” He stepped close just as I finished zipping up my jeans. His voice was low and full of sex as he said, “Baby, you hurry up so I can eat, and I’ll bring you back here and show you the type of bossy you won’t be able to get enough of.” Well, all right, then. Out of My League Come Back Home The Best of Me Wrong Side of the Tracks Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That’s why God created central air, after all. Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy–she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says. In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Not that she’d expect a boy to understand. Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not. • REVIEW: Tanner by Jeannine Colette & Lauren Runow

Title: Tanner Author: Jeannine Colette Author: Lauren Runow Genre: Contemporary Romance Publication Date: February 7th, 2019 We’re two strangers on a train, knowing whatever we decide in the next moment might dictate our fate for the rest of our lives. “A kiss was all I needed.” “Looks like you got what you wished for.” “Yes. About that…” My plan: find a finely dressed businessman, have a one-night stand, and forget about my failed relationship. Like a bad joke, my ex walks into the bar. That’s when a gorgeous man wearing street clothes, messy hair, and the sexiest smile I’ve ever seen lays a kiss on me. It’s meant to rile up my ex but leaves me breathless and wanting more instead. Then he’s gone. So, I do what any rational person would. I chase after him onto the subway and embark on a wild night in New York City with a complete stranger. No matter how much I fight it, this mysterious man painted his soul onto my skin. If it’s not meant to be, why can’t I forget about him? And the baby of the trio is definitely one of a kind. The way that he is with Harper is done so right that you find yourself engrossed in their story. I'm sorry to see the series come to an end, but I am so glad that I found these character. This is definitely a series that I would recommend. OMG I am so deeply and hopelessly in love with Tanner Sexton! ♥ Tanner is the youngest of the Sexton brothers and approaching the end of his college years. He has made a nice life for himself in New York. He has his art, his friends and his freedom, but he will soon have to leave it all behind. He is due to return to California to take his rightful place at his family's media empire. At least that was the plan until he met a beautiful woman & muse. Harper is a 30 year old fifth grade teacher who's just gone through a painful breakup. Living on her best friend's couch, she spends her free time watching reruns of Friends. Tired of seeing her friend sulk around, April drags her out for a night on the town. There in a room full of suits, she meets a beautiful man wearing jeans and a man bun. He saves her from her ex who walks in by kissing her deeply and passionately before leaving the bar. Never having been kissed quite like that before, she decides to take a chance and run after him. Tanner & Harper's journey was absolutely beautiful, but not without issues that had to be overcome. It was just as much heartbreaking as it was heartwarming. The story was wonderfully written and had everything that I was looking for. A sexy and passionate hero, a lovable heroine, sizzling hot chemistry and a swoon-worthy romance. I smiled. I laughed and at times I cried. Tanner is a wonderful read that I'm sure you won't want to miss. It tended to drag at the very beginning and I struggled to push through. Once the nemesis was introduced, things started to pick up more. When the action started it captured my attention and I had to finish. I love PNR of any kind, and this checks off all the boxes. I struggled a bit with all the sexual parts between the angels, even though it was not graphic; but that is just me. I am sure others will love it. I was hooked. Casey and Caleb sure know how to keep you in turmoil. You can feel both their heart breaks and misery and literally want to jump in that book to sort them out. The chemistry these pair have and deny is electric. They are passionate and truly do belong together. The drama was amazing though and kept me hooked through out. It was amazing! Just ok This one just wasn’t for me. It’s a great idea, but honestly I found it dragged a lot. It was well written, no mistakes I could find. But I kept losing focus. Loved this! This is the second in a brilliant series! I just couldn’t put it down! If you love angels paranormal girls! You’ll love this! Georgia Tingley is a new player on the author scene with her breakout novel ‘Justice’ the first book in the ‘Angel Calling’ Series. It was a touching read and you do route for these guys from the start. You want rainbow to start living again and wolf to move past the horrors to. The ending was totally worth the heartbreak in between. A great read that will take you on a rollercoaster or a broken down Ferris wheel. I really enjoyed this. I love, love, loved this book!!! The back story of how they met is so sweet and the circumstances to which they reunite is hilarious. Gia is a fun loving, charismatic character that is just so entertaining. Her love of bright rainbow coloured clothing makes her such a likeable character and she was just a joy to read about! Gunner is super hot and I love how this is dual POV so you get to hear the main males perspective as it's so interesting to read. He reminisces back to their college says describing how he used to try and get Gia to talk to him all the time which we wouldn't have known had this not been dual POV as we all know men aren't too keen on talking about their feelings. I loved this book it was filled with a heartbreaking, emotional backstory which I love and I would recommend this for anyone looking for a good romance with loveable characters. This was my first book by this author and it was a complete standalone. But I'm still going to go read book one anyway since I enjoyed this one so much. Gunner is the high-flying business owner, he oozes sex and mystery, but always had a soft spot for Gia. Gia is quiet and keeps to herself, always has. But when the two come together, its explosive. One proposition is made and the tables are turned. This book had me gripped from the first page. I mean, I didn't expect what happened to happen and that made me enjoy the book even more! • Review: Trust the Wolf by Zoe Ashwood

Title: Trust the Wolf Series: Shift Author: Zoe Ashwood Genre: Paranormal Romance Publication Date: January 24th, 2019 You never forget your first wolf. Emilia’s first encounter with Jason is memorable: it’s not every day you see a stranger change into a wolf. Her attraction to him is undeniable, but the secret he shares shakes the foundations of her life. Jason’s need for Emilia unnerves him. It’s his job to report shifters without proper ID, yet he can’t make himself do it this time. The decision bites him in the tail when he discovers exactly who she is. He must keep his distance—or there will be hell to pay. Their fates entwine when rogue shifters learn of Emilia’s identity and will stop at nothing to get to her. A shifter book with a difference. I loved that it has its own spun. Mixing things up from what I would deem a typical type. Looking forward to more from this series for sure. A promising read. I have mixed emotions about this book. There are moments where I am entranced with the story line, but there were also moments when I had to push myself to read it because it fell flat. I love this genre and the overall plot is good, I just think that the H/H characters got on my nerves with the constant push and pull between them. It just felt like their relationship was more a teenage angst. I really wanted to like them, but I just never felt a connection to either of them. This book has great promise, just maybe needs more character development. Emilia thinks she's just a regular human but after a chance encounter with a wolf she realises she is anything but. Jason discovers Emilia has no ID and knowing he should report her he doesn't and they bond. Quickly, after meeting they discover that Emilia is child to a powerful family and Jason fights to keep it professional as her guardian. I really enjoyed this book because it was fun, hot and sexy. There's so much tension when Jason holds himself back and this builds up but is so worth it! What was really enjoyable was the fact that although there was push and pull there wasn't an excessive amount which can sometimes be frustrating resulting in not liking the characters. This was not the case and there was the perfect equilibrium between push and pull. I recommend this for anyone looking for a paranormal romance with some seriously hot scenes. Trust The Wolf Truth or Bear Make Him Howl Zoe Ashwood is a romance writer with a passion for suspenseful stories with a sexy twist. It has been a while since I read this type of book and now I am ready to read more. Action packed, a little paranormal and an overall unique story line. It is always refreshing to find a plot that doesn’t follow the cookie cutter lay out many authors fall prey to. Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I'm sitting here trying to process what I have read, and figure out what to say about it. One thing I will say is I went into this book completely blind. To be honest the cover is what grabbed my attention, I didn't read the blurb or any reviews. So I dove in hoping that what was inside would be just as attention grabbing. Well I can say that the first part of the story was able to keep my attention. Even with an annoying character, Damien, being introduced. I overlooked this, because I know that not every character is going to be liked. Still I kept reading thinking OK I can get into a good horror story about surviving a human hunting game. But, this author just couldn't stop there. Nope he had to go and introduce the supernatural into the game. Then when you have the characters trying to run for their lives, that's when they decide that it's time to share their stories. Oh and you can't forget that the main male character brings up at odd times that he's noticing the one female character romantically. Ummm, sorry to tell you, your running in the woods trying to survive, keep your head out of the gutter. Even more characters are introduced, these ones being just over the line of creepy. And it's with them you find out what's out there and why these people are there. Mainly you find out that this whole cluster is one man's sick and twisted version of entertainment. By the time this was revealed I was already figuring that the author couldn't do anything else that I wouldn't expect. And I was right, there was the inevitable power struggle between the characters. Then in the middle of this struggle, there was one little twist that happens. And then the next thing I know the story is over. I almost felt that the ending was kind of anticlimactic, especially with the way that the power struggle was going. I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy this book. But, I also can't say that disliked it either. I'm going to say that I was in the middle. There was parts that I found kept my attention. And then there was parts that I found to be a little lack luster. At least to me, this may not be the way someone else will feel when reading this particular book. Not my usual type of book and not what I expected from the blurb, but found myself unable to put it down till it was over. Has a hunger games vibe This is not my normal mystery book but it was so captivating. I just couldn’t put it down. Definitely looking forward to more by this author. Jonathan Chateau grew up reading books by Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Michael Crichton. However, it was Fight Club--both the 1996 novel by Chuck Palahniuk and the 1999 film by David Fincher--that inspired him to pursue writing. Currently, he has completed three novels, Faith Against the Wolves & Nightmares in Analog and The Death Wish Game. When Jonathan's not writing, he's wandering the aisles of Home Depot, painting Warhammer miniatures, jamming out to Emo & EDM, or spending time with his wonderful muse & girlfriend, his family and his two spoiled cats. • Excerpt - Teardrop Shot by Tijan

Teardrop Shot, an all-new standalone sports romance from New York Times bestselling author Tijan is coming June 24th and we have an exclusive Excerpt for you. I asked for his criteria for bed buddies–that's the PG version. He swore at me and said he didn’t do groupies. And just like that, our friendship was off to a great start. Reese Forster was the starting point guard for the Seattle Thunder. Gorgeous. Cocky. Loved by the nation. He’s also attending preseason basketball training camp where I used to work. Correction: where I work again, because I was fired from my last job. And dumped. And I might have a tiny bit of baggage, but that’s normal. Right? Reese and I shouldn’t have become friends. We shouldn’t have become roommates. And we really shouldn’t have started sleeping together … (Except we did.) I’m adorably psychotic. He’s in the NBA. This is not a disaster waiting to happen, at all. Teardrop Shot is a 107k standalone with brand new characters. “The team has to go to their first preseason game. They have to use Fairview’s airport, so you’re going to go with them, show them the way.” I blinked. I saw the Boss mug first, then it moved from the opening in front of the cage’s window and Keith appeared. He was hitching his khaki shorts up, his belly jutting out even farther than normal because he wasn’t watching me. He was leaning against the cage, one of his legs crossed over the other, and he was watching the practice. They’d been running drills for the last hour, with Reese and a few others sectioned off to the back corner. He was being fed basketballs as he was dribbling up to three at a time. He handled four at one point, but that was quickly shot off to the next person in line. They were taking turns, sending him the balls and he couldn’t lose control over any of them. He was bent down, a wide grin on his face, his eyes lit up. So not like the other day, when there’d been no look at all. Since then, he hadn’t looked at me. I was nonexistent. Well. I was staff. There was a level of invisibility that came along with my position. I wished that same power was extended to Keith, but alas he was my boss. What could a recently fired and recently dumped person do? “You want me to do what?” He waved his mug back to me, speaking distractedly, “You know how that airport is. The GPS always gets it wrong, so I told them I’d send a staff member with them. Trent’s gone. Owen is needed here and Grant’s got other things to do. You’re up.” Now he looked at me. I wished he hadn’t. I knew he was trying to grin at me, he was even speaking neutral and like I was a regular person to him, but when his mouth lifted, it just came out as a sneer. I didn’t think I’d be able to see him any other way. He straightened up, readjusting his shorts. “I told Winston a staff person would direct them to the airport, so they know. They’ve chartered their own plane.” He and Winston. First name terms, huh? Wait. “I’m riding with them?” On their bus? I was starting to hyperventilate and he hadn’t even answered. He was eyeing me, his eyebrows pinched together. “Yes. And you’re representing the camp, so don’t do anything nuts.” I wanted to snort for so many reasons. I refrained, chewing the inside of my cheek. But I did give him a half-salute. “Yes, sir.” “Good. They leave in about two hours. You’ll go on the bus with them, and they’ll park it there until they fly back.” Two hours later, I was told to wait in the entryway while all their equipment was first loaded. They left after eating, and one by one, they went past me. Out the door. To the bus. A few of the guys eyed me with interest. A couple winked. Two smiled. Then there were the blank stares, a couple disgusted looks, all until the end where Reese was bringing up the rear. Juan was in front of him, a coach walking next to Reese, his hand on his shoulder. He was nodding to what the coach was saying, then he saw me, and his eyes sparked. He half-turned his head toward me, enough so the coach stopped talking, lifting his head too to see what caught Reese’s attention. Seeing it was only good old me, the coach went right back to speaking, but Reese didn’t look away. He eyed me the whole time as he passed, his head turning to watch me as Juan held the door open for him. Noting the look, Juan took interest in me too. His own eyebrows pinching together, a slight frown marring his face. And because they were the rear of the group, I waited a beat before I fell in line. These guys were giants, all of them except their trainers, and even most of those guys were six feet and in amazing shape. Came with the job, I suppose. This was my life. I couldn’t get over it. I was walking behind the Seattle Thunder. I was going to ride on their bus with them, show them the way to get to the airport—wait. Oh, shit. I held up a hand. “Hold on!” I took off, back inside. “Owen!” The door slammed shut behind me, then I heard it squeak as it was opened again. “Where are you going?” I was dying. That was Reese. “I need directions.” His nostrils flared and his head moved back an inch. “You’re supposed to be giving us directions.” “I know, but—” There was a fork in the road and I always went the wrong way, but instead of explaining that to Reese, I yelled for Owen. “Left or right at the fork?” “Right!” Hadley yelled, “He means left. He thought you said left, and he was saying right to the left. It’s left.” I was confused. A body stood next to me. I could feel Reese’s heat coming off him, and his arm lifted. He had his phone out, was frowning at it. “Why’s the GPS all fucked up out here?” I gulped. “The signal out here is crap.” He grunted, putting his phone away. “Makes sense.” He eyed me again, before nodding up at Owen who had come out from his office. “Why can’t you come with us? Make sure we don’t get lost.” So embarrassing, but then he stepped into my side. My head whipped up, and I swear, he’d done it on purpose. His face was stiff, his lips pressed tight like he was holding back a grin, and he didn’t look down at me. Then he did it again. He was doing it on purpose. I tensed, standing to my fullest height of five six. And I had no idea what to do here. Owen gave us both a grin, eyeing me with a slight wary look. “You know the way?” I nodded. “It’s left…” “Right?” Reese added. I clamped my mouth shut. My neck heating up. Owen was skirting between the two of us, rolling his shoulder up and tugging on his neck. “At the fork, you go left.” Hadley yelled from behind the kitchen window, “That’s right.” Reese started laughing. I yelled back, “You can’t see, but I’m flicking you off, Hadley.” “I’m twerking back at you.” “Yo!” A shout from behind us. Reese and I both turned. The coach was there, a slight glare on his face. He was holding the door open, one foot inside. “What’s the holdup?” Reese turned around, stepping into me again. “Direction Girl needed to get directions.” “What?” His eyebrows shot up. “No. I mean,” I coughed and started forward, “there’s a fork. I needed to remember which way to go. It’s confusing sometimes.” Reese was close behind me. “She’s right.” He was fucking with me. The coach pushed the door open, stepping back and giving us space so both of us could pass him by. As I stepped outside, I moved to the side, giving Reese a good side-eye. “We go left.” His mouth twitched, but he ran a hand over it, hiding his expression. “You sure about that?” My God. I had to think about it. As he was looking down at me like that, like we were having our own secret, I almost faltered in my step. He was mesmerizing. “I…yes. I’m right.” I blanched. Reese started laughing. I wasn’t ready. He’d been pissed the first night, confused after that, and guarded yesterday. This Reese was electrifying. I’d seen it earlier in their practice and had been half-swooning, but standing so close to him, having him giving me this attention—a jolt went through my entire body as the sound of his laugh washed over me. It took a moment to regroup. “Yes. I’m right. It’s left.” The coach sighed, moving ahead of us. “Just don’t get us lost. We are on a time table here.” Then we were getting on, and a lot of eyes were focused on us. I gulped. One head coach. Four assistant coaches. Two trainers. A few other extra staff and nineteen players were waiting for us. Only half were watching, but it didn’t diminish the effect of being the center of their attention. Reese started to take one of the open seats in the front, until their head coach grunted. “In the back, Forster.” He paused, mid-swing into the chair. “What?” His coach was looking over some papers, jerked his hand toward the back. “Passing along the message. Cartion said you had to go back there.” He looked up, his eyes all business. “I don’t know why.” Then the other coach was sitting behind me, and he focused on me. “You’re the staff?” Staff. I dipped my head down. “That’s me.” Reese’s grin was slow. “She needed to ask for directions.” “Shut up,” I hissed under my breath, then was more mortified as three of the coaches looked over. Winston Duty’s eyes were narrowing the more he watched us. Then he motioned for an empty seat right behind the driver. “I’m starting to see why Cartion requested your presence in the back.” Pre-order your copy today!
