The bad boy biker, with no regard for the law with the daughter of a racing legend/owner. They aren't supposed to be together but their chemistry is undeniable. I fell hard for Dash in this one and let me tell you that Shantel Tessier absolutely destroys me and leaves me in a fetal position by the end of this with a bittersweet yet so heartwarming ending. Book Review - STAR STRUCK by LAURELIN PAIGE #BookReview #BookSmackedReview #MelsReview I found Star Struck to be a very entertaining and engaging read. Heather and Seth were a couple that did not take an easy road to be together they had a lot of stumbling blocks most of which were of their own creation but the chemistry and the attraction between them was magnetic and one that couldn't be ignored. Heather, I'll be honest at first I wanted to bitch slap her a few times. She was such a diva but after knowing her past and seeing how really closed off she was and scared really I ending up feeling for her and understanding why she was the way she was. Seth I loved him from the beginning. He was fierce, attractive and hard working. He definitely didn't let Heather off the hook for her behaviour and i truly believe that it was what she needed to actually let herself be who she really was and not this person that she felt she needed to be. These two had a lot of push and pull, and as I said earlier their story is not a smooth paved bed of roses. It's bumpy AF but I don't think they would have gotten to where they were any other way. Overall this was a really good read. The storyline definitely keeps you interested and entertained and I while I didn't flove this as much as I did book 1 I definitely enjoyed it. Book Review - ROGUE AGENT by KELLIE WALLACE #BookSmackedReviews #ReviewTeam #Reviews #RogueAgent I loved the sound of this book. Set in the future, and a sort of killer, it had the mystery aspect also, so I was excited to read it. A few key phrases in the description stood out to me. Assassin, futuristic hitman and falling for his mark, sounds like it’s would be a perfect book! I like Seth. From the start of the book he is a jerk, but his morals start to resurface as the story goes and he turns into a good guy. Terra was pretty awesome. She had this whole other side that we see Brad Akley throughout the story. She was hard core at times, for a lack of better words. The plot was very interesting. I like to the suspense aspect and the action that was in twined in the story. The setting was well mapped out and with the place jumping and even the scenes with the time travel, it was very interesting. There were things that didn’t work for me. The third point of view, made it very hard for me to connect with the characters. I couldn’t feel the romance aspect of the story, and it was a lot of different people that we were seeing and it became a lot trying to remember who was who and who we should trust and stuff. Overall. I liked the idea of the story. I like the future setting and there were quite a few scenes that I really liked. Book Review PRETTY STOLEN DOLLS by KER DUKEY & K. WEBSTER #BookSmackedReview #MelissasReviews #FiveStarRead This book is all sorts of crazy good. It’s suspenseful, edge or your seat, heartbreaking, shocking, and I couldn’t stop reading it. This book is very dark but so brilliantly written. Benny oh I hated Benny down to my soul. He’s vile and I’m not sure whether I want him to burn in the fiery pits of hell or get the help I think he may so desperately need. That’s the thing about this I already feel like there something sad behind his horrific ways that may have led to him becoming this monster. Jade the guilt, the determination she has to find her sister and bring Benny to justice is admirable. However at times I was worried that she would absolutely lose her mind. I can’t even imagine how I would feel if it were me in her shoes. I mean how do you not crumble and feel like at times you are going insane. Along the way I find myself seeing a hero that has me all fired up in such a good way. What’s a dark romance without a swooony hot hero am right? This story has me completely sucked in and that ending OMFG. I have no idea where this is headed but I’m definitely going to find out where this dark twisted road will take me. K Webster had become one of my favs when t comes to books that dare to be dark, taboo, edgy and insane at times. This is my first book by K Dukey and I will definitely be checking out other books by her. Loved everything about this book and if your a fan of the dark romance and love reading something that has you pretty much freaking out then I would recommend this book. It definitely was the Cinderella type story with a sexy twist to it. Although in this book she at least got along with one of her step-sisters for most of the book and eventually works through issues with both her other step-sister and step-mother. She meets her prince charming at an event and things spark from there. They have an instant connection and things move forward quickly. I definitely recommend reading this book. In this story we are reintroduced to Jeremy and Jade. Both are friends from the characters in the other Breaking Free books. This story provides an up close look at these characters. You find out about the hurts and challenges both face due to past relationships. This is a sweet friends to lovers story that has some interesting twists and turns in it. What I really loved about this story is how REAL it felt. It explores all the in betweens of how a relationship develops in such an honest way but don't get me wrong, you still get nice steamy parts. Jeremy and Jade definitely provide some spiciness (wink wink). I also enjoyed the quirkiness of the characters and how funny they were. I had several laugh out loud moments in this book. This author really excels at the intertwining of her individual books so they can be read on their own without issue. But if you read them as a collective, emotionally it just feels bigger. For me each book is a big piece to a puzzle. They have their own spot, providing a beautiful picture individually but when you put them all together, well the view is spectacular. It definitely gave me a big burst of the feels (haha). It was wonderful how this author really provided a chance to get caught up with the characters from the other books. Her words at the end felt poetic and brought everything together so nicely. I SO recommend this book and if you have a chance read the others, you won't be disappointed. Happy Reading!!! Aden and Sawyer both have such heartbreak surrounding them. They meet under unusual and very sad circumstances with a twist that makes the story even more interesting. This book has some very sweet moments but also deals with some very serious and painful subject matter. Sawyer and Aden have the power to heal each other while at the same time have the power to almost destroy each other as there are some secrets that both of them have. It took me a bit to get into this book if I’m being honest but as the story continued I found myself getting invested definitely wanting to see how things would turn out especially after some truths were unveiled. There are definitely parts that will break your heart but at the end of it all we get a happy HEA that made me smile. Book Review - JILTED by SAWYER BENNETT #BookSmackedReview #BookReview #MelsReview I absolutely loved this second chance romance by Sawyer Bennett. It had a little bit of angst, some comedy and the romance factor was absolutely there. I devoured this in one sitting, not able to put it down. Eden and Cooper were high school sweethearts who ended up going their separate ways in college. Fast forward years later and Eden decides to escape back to her hometown after breaking up with her hollywood boyfriend. What ensues is a little bit of friendly fire as she finds herself face to face with Cooper. There first encounter had me laughing up a storm as they figure out how to be around each other again. Book Review - OUT OF THE ASHES by L.A. CASEY #BookReview #BookSmackedReview #MelsReview #FavRead This was my first ever venture into the world of Sci Fi romance and you can be certain it won’t be my last especially if there are more books to come in this series for sure. Nova is a young woman who has had to fend for herself in what I would maybe call apocalyptic Earth. She’s rescued or kidnapped depending on whose perspective you look at by an Alien culture called Maji not sure if that is even the right term. Remember sci fi newbie here. Anyway the Maji have their alphas in fact all of them are alphas but their unwavering need to protect and treasure woman is swoon worthy. Nova has to come to terms not only with the impending destruction of Earth but the fact that she is now in the hands of strangers who are different in her in many ways but at the same time have some similarities. Nova she was a tough gal and definitely wasn’t afraid to tell Kol at times where to go and how to get there. Kol was commanding and definitely showed why he is one of the leaders of his species. Together these two have almost a battle of wits that was completely entertaining. I definitely couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to see if they would end up together and how the hell they would navigate the differences they had as well as the way they lived their lives which was so different. I was definitely pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed this book considering that it is my first sci fi read. Let me tell you though these characters definitely left an impression. I found myself laughing, smiling, and at times saying OH SHIT as I giggled to myself. There were also elements of angst in this book as Kol and Nova find themselves connected to each other. LA Casey also has some supporting characters in this that stand out as well. I am dying to get their stories, Sukrah and Mikoh especially. If you are fan of romance it really doesn’t matter the sub genre this book is a definite recommend for me and if you haven’t read a Sci Fi romance before then seriously this is a great book to start with.
